Meet our Mentors

Dhruv Gulabchande

A British-Indian Architect and Associate Director at London-based practice HFM Architects with over ten years of experience. As current Associate Lecturer at Chelsea College of Arts, and as former Technical Tutor at Central Saint Martins, Design Studio Tutor at Uni. of Brighton, and Sheffield, he focuses on briefs related to culture primarily through the lens of storytelling. Alongside this he leads Narrative Practice, an architectural mentoring and research platform where his current body of research looks at the use of long-term mentoring to promote Architecture within schools to increase diversity.

Parisa Shahnooshi

An Iranian-British designer with an interest for poetry, Persian miniature painting and carpet weaving. This can be seen in her published Blueprint Magazine Masters project titled 'Vertical Gardens of Persia' speaking on the topic of histories and mythologies of Persia. With previous experience from AJ100 practice Formation, she currently works as an Architect for small Colchester - based practice SPD Studio primarily within the residential sector. Alongside practice, she is Postgraduate Mentor for Unit 12 at Uni. of Greenwich giving back to young designers through knowledge sharing and guidance.

Adam Tarasewicz

A qualified Architectural Designer currently leading his graphic design studio in London. He partners up with small, up-and-coming architectural studios that want to cohesively communicate their services to attract like-minded clients. Most recently, he has been collaborating with Jas Bhalla Works for which he developed a new visual language across physical and online channels. He is currently UG Studio Tutor role at Uni. of Sheffield and is a former Practice Mentor at the Royal College of Arts. As an Architectural Designer, he had gained extensive experience in housing projects at Levitt Bernstein and RCKa focusing on creating meaningful connections with the local communities, putting an emphasis on social value.

Elena Šležaitė

Elena is an ARB registered Lithuanian Architect currently working as a Design Manager at Knight Harwood and formerly at large international company Adamson Associates as well as DMWR Architects. She has extensive experience spanning multiple sectors including residential, hotel, speak-easy, student accommodation and more. She completed her undergraduate at the University of Manchester and postgraduate at the University of Greenwich, where she developed interests in sustainable and innovative architectural techniques, as well as ‘human-space’ relationships. Elena has held the position of Senior Mentor at Narrative Practice for over four years now closely contributing to the Sessions mentoring initiative supporting young people from underrepresented backgrounds.

Joseph Goodwin

The London-based Head of Brand & Creative at UHA where he manages the creative output, brand identity, and global marketing strategy of the studio. His design approach is research-led, collaborative, and cross-industry with a focus on speculative futures and an alternative present. His unconventional approach often involves combining animation, curation, film, and photography to translate complex concepts spatially. Joseph has designed and curated exhibitions in London and Delhi and had his work exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2024. His designs were recognised in multiple categories at the 2021 Dezeen Awards and his 'Fish Island Futures' exhibition was a featured event at Open House 2018. He has served as a visiting critic on undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University of Greenwich and as a Y3 Design Tutor for the University of Huddersfield.

Yasmin Freeman

An Architect with more than six years of experience delivering high-end residential projects. In her former role she has been involved in the planning and construction phases of Listed Buildings at GK Architects. While studying for her Masters at the University of Greenwich, her thesis explored the physical and psychological divides between cities and their periphery and how to bridge the urban rural divide. Her brief formed parallels with the ongoing political landscape of Malta, in which her roots lie. With the Sessions initiative she engages with multiple students as an early-career educator as well as primary Lecture Series coordinator.

Elliott Wang

An architectural designer at Henley Halebrown Architects working on a range of UK-based and international housing projects. Prior to this he has gained a range of experience across multiple sectors at practices such as David Kohn Architects, Walters and Cohen and Studioshaw. He studied at the London School of Architecture, where his thesis project, “The Grand Domestic”, was awarded a commendation for the 2023 RIBA President’s Silver Medal as well as being nominated for the AJ student Prize. Whilst at the LSA, he founded the lecture series ‘Pathways’ which highlighted the works and processes of artists, makers, designers and thinkers. He is currently a skills tutor at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff.

Emily Cater

A Level 7 Architectural Apprentice currently working at HFM Architects, with prior experience in the residential sector at SPD Studio, a small practice based in Colchester, Essex. She completed her UG at UCA, Canterbury where her primary research explored applications of timber construction. Her personal interests lie in the development of strong and emotive narratives which she aims to progress into the next stage of academia; studying part-time at London Metropolitan University whilst continuing to work in practice. With Sessions, she is engaged with multiple students on a monthly basis as an early-career educator.

Semi Han

An experienced Part 2 Architectural Assistant at Denizen Works, Semi works across residential and cultural community projects. She also leads the practice’s BIM coordination and project management. She completed her Part I at Newcastle University, focusing on monastic architecture. Explored through hand-drawn ink drawings and iterative cast models, her work is featured in the book Architecture and Silence. Her Masters thesis developed her interests in religious architecture, challenging Western practices and legislation which conserve heritage and history. Her proposal reassesses the management and adaptation of Listed buildings through the lens of intangible cultural heritage. Prior to joining Denizen Works, Semi worked at Dezeen across several teams involving growth strategies, editorial writing and pitching unique content.

Mayce Arebi

A London-based Part 2 Architectural Assistant at Allford Hall Monaghan Morris. She studied at the Manchester School of Architecture, where her MArch thesis 'Reconstructed Orient' was nominated for the Silver Medal Award and published on Dezeen for its research-led and process driven project. The thesis redefines the gallery space by deconstructing Orientalist paintings through the mapping of observation. Also, she is a frequent guest critic and guest tutor at MSA. Her academic and professional success has supported many UK students at Sessions, guiding their design work, careers, and providing practical experience.

George Aboagye-Williams

George Aboagye Williams, is a British born Ghanaian, ARB Architect and Technical Designer based in London. His varied experience in residential, commercial and healthcare based architecture complements the theoretical side of practice with moments of culture and identity. George is currently working for the London based interior design company Oktra Ltd, boasting experience at practices such as Perkins&Will, Penoyre&Prasad, BPTW and Adamson Associates; qualifying from his course of study at the University of Westminster. Using an interest in cultural and international relations developed during the course of study at the University of Greenwich, empathetic architectural views have developed to provide spaces and experiences for the end user.

Evana Ahamed

An Architectural Designer currently undertaking her Part 3 PG Diploma at the Uni. of Westminster. Her prior practice experience at GPAD, Manalo & White, PLP and Amos Goldreich covering the retail, commercial and hospitality sectors. Alongside this her academic projects explored material tectonics specifically that within her thesis covering choreographing architectural weathering using a site in Sri Lanka as the testing grounds. As an initial member of Sessions, her mentoring experience extends to engagement in reviews across various international institutions.

Chirag Desai

A qualified Architect, Director and Founder of CDA, a small London-based residential studio. With over ten years of industry experience from his time at AJ100 practice Atkins, as well as MTA, he established his own practice in 2021 bringing a wealth of knowledge from both the commercial and residential sectors. His successful academic and professional education from the University of Westminster has aided in his abilities as Mentor to multiple students from a variety of UK institutions, providing guidance on their design work and careers, as well as providing in practice experience.

Luxmi Nanthakumar

A Part 2 Architectural Assistant earning recognition at the WSA in 2022 from the RIBA Royal Society of Architects in Wales for her MArch Thesis, published on Dezeen — "Salt Commons," re-imagined a future Portsmouth affected by flooding focusing a seawater purification system to tackle the challenges of Urban Commons.' She is currently working at Cottrell & Vermeulen; a London-based firm specialising in innovative, community-focused designs across education, housing, and public buildings, known for their socially sustainable and participatory approach. In her former role she has been part of the Masterplanning Team at David Kohn Architects working on the Birmingham Smithfield markets. Combining this with her prior experience at AHMM, Luxmi brings strong practical and research driven insights to the team as an early-career educator.

Luis Rojas-Paipilla

Luis is a Colombian Architect based in London. His education begins in Cali & Mexico City, followed by a PG Masters at Greenwich, receiving a RIBA Silver Medal Nomination and recognition for his Outstanding Achievement in the Architectural thesis, culminating in a PG Diploma at the Bartlett. Having delved into Cultural Heritage through Architecture and Traditional Sustainability for these projects, he prides himself in developing robust, diverse lines of inquiry from concept through to design coordination. With over a decade of professional practice experience in projects across the world, he is currently an Overseas Qualified Architect at Hunters. His interests lie in the influence of rising technology and artificial intelligence, VR and AR representations of our built environment and eco-centric habitats for spatial exploration.

Sarah Bass

An Architect at Goldstein Heather Architecture, leading early stage residentially-led design projects through planning. She has previously worked at Fletcher Priest and Grimshaw Architects where she was involved with large infrastructure projects, including the Heathrow Expansion Plan and HS2 Euston. Sarah graduated from the University of Westminster in 2018, her thesis project explored the relationship between changing monsoonal climates and rapid urban growth in South Asian cities. Her work was published by Monsoon Assemblages, a research project funded by the European Research Council (ERC).
