template: statutory application for flexible working.

Dear [Contact],

Date: ________

Hope you are keeping well, especially as we now finally see light at the end of the tunnel.

In light of the promising news of restrictions being lifted and practices beginning to open again, I would like to formally submit a statutory application for flexible working.

Although the construction industry overall has seen a dip in workload, the remote working situation enforced over the past year has proven to have worked well — looking forward, I believe it will become part and parcel of the working environment.

I have shown that working remotely on [Project_Name] has been successful, particularly in development of [Project_Task/s].

[Delete below as required]

In my role as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant I understand that most elements of work may require supervision and would therefore like to propose at least 1 day of remote working per week — [state days].

OR

In my role as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant I understand that there is some level of autonomy in my role where some elements of work may require supervision and would therefore like to propose at least 2 days of remote working per week — [state days].

OR

In my role as Architect I understand that most elements of work are to be completed autonomously with a degree of design coordination and would therefore like to propose at least 3 days of remote working per week — [state days].

OR

In my role as [Job_Role] I understand that [Level of Supervision/Autonomy] is required and would therefore like to propose at least [No.] days of remote working per week — [state days].

This working pattern would ideally align with the 21st June final opening up date, but of course I understand that this has potential to be delayed. I am of course aware that I may be required to make myself available for project meetings, site visits, and design team coordination.

The proposed change may benefit [Practice_Name] through an internal extension of the social distancing measures as well as aiding the phased return to the office. Although I would not physically be within the office for those remote working days, I would be available virtually during the contracted working hours and would manage the workload on the current project.

I emphasise that my commitment to the practice would be no less than that over the past year.

I would be grateful to discuss the requested flexible days in line with the project requirements.

Kind regards,

[Your_Name]
